The ride is over in well under a minute. The walk up takes longer. Whether that is a good trade is the whole question, and the answer depends entirely on which ticket you buy.

S$59 for one descent is a lot for two minutes. S$79 for three activities is not. That S$20 gap is the single most useful number here: it buys MegaClimb, a high ropes course through the trees, and MegaJump, a controlled free-fall descent, and it turns a photo opportunity into an afternoon.
If your instinct is to buy the cheapest ticket that includes the zip line, resist it. The cheapest ticket that includes the zip line is also the worst value on the price list.
What each activity actually is
MegaZip — the headline. Two parallel lines from the hilltop platform, down through the canopy, landing on the islet off Siloso. You are harnessed and seated; there is nothing to do but look, which is the point. The view is out over Siloso Beach and the strait.
MegaClimb — a high ropes course in the trees, with multiple circuits at different heights. This is where the time goes, and it is the reason the combo works. Last entry is 17:45, earlier than the rest of the park.
MegaJump — a free-fall descent on a controlled decelerator. Short, but genuinely unpleasant in the way it is supposed to be.
MegaBounce — a bungee-assisted trampoline, aimed squarely at children. S$18, and not a reason to make the trip.
Timing
Opens at 11:00, which is later than most of Sentosa. Do not build a morning around it.
Last entry 18:30 for the park, 17:45 for MegaClimb. If you are doing the combo — and you should be — treat 17:00 as your practical cut-off, not 18:30.
Late afternoon is the good window. The hilltop platform faces west over Siloso, so the light between about 16:30 and 18:00 is the best of the day, and the heat has come off the ropes course.
Avoid the middle of the day. MegaClimb is physical work in an open canopy at 31°C, and midday is when people quit halfway round.
Rain stops the aerial activities. Singapore's afternoon storms are short; expect a pause rather than a cancellation, but do not leave the combo until the last slot of the day in the wet season.
How to save
Buy the combo, not the single. S$79 against S$59 for three activities instead of one. There is no scenario where MegaZip alone is the better purchase unless you are genuinely short of time.
Book online rather than at the gate. The counter rate is the highest one.
Check the tandem weight limit first. 140 kg combined, and being turned away at the platform after paying is avoidable.
Pair it with free Sentosa. Siloso Beach is immediately below, and free. So is the beach shuttle. A half-day here costs you one ticket and nothing else.
Skip MegaBounce as a standalone. At S$18 for a trampoline, it only makes sense as something a smaller child does while the rest of the group zips.

From Beach Station — the end of the Sentosa Express — take the free Siloso beach shuttle, or walk about twelve minutes west along Siloso Beach Walk.
From the mainland, the Sentosa Express runs from VivoCity, or you can walk across the Sentosa Boardwalk from HarbourFront.
What is nearby
Siloso Beach is directly below and costs nothing — the free half of a Mega Adventure day.
Skyline Luge and SkyHelix are around Imbiah, about ten minutes away. The Singapore Cable Car Sentosa Line runs overhead and there is a combo ticket pairing it with MegaZip. Wings of Time plays at Beach Station at 19:40 and 20:40, which fits neatly after a late-afternoon session here.
